Bi-di chopper - nlc - build part 2 - completion

 The build so far.

The B-Di chopper  can be used to process CV and audio signals.

Its a  CV controlled switcher
There are 2 switcher circuits in this module.

Part 1 of the build is here:

BOM

I'll use 10R for the power protection.
( don't have any schotty's)

LL4148 diodes

DG213

100k b pots

power header, etc

..

3mm LEDs

...
This module can be used as a switch.
1 into 2  (eg A into B1 & B2)
or
2 into 1. (eg B1 & B2 into A)

However its important to remember that Choppers are different from regular switches
as the signals being switched also controls the switching.
Thus things happen that you might not expect.

I'll need to experiment with CVs that you use to do the switching.

The module below is a pretty standard LFO Triangle wave. 0-5V
Works well.

Digitone - OS update

Some notes on updating the OS of the digitone.

Note, that the digitone keys must have the latest OS to work with overbridge.
Needs OS 1.40

-------------------------------------------------------

To update the OS there are two methods.
1. StartUp menu method.
2. From the Setting Page (bootstrap upgrade)

1. Start up menu
this uses old fashioned 5pin DIN cables.
Its slow and clunky.
I connected the midi out from my audio interface
into the midi in of the Digitone.

Then press func while turning on the Digitone,
Then press trig 4

Use the Digitone file transfer application to transfer the .sys  files.

Links to both (file transfer program and the .sys  file) are here:

----------------------------------------
2. From the Setting Page (bootstrap upgrade)

The second method is much faster and easier.
Uses the USB cable.
Use the same Digitone file transfer application to transfer the .sys  files.

Press this button to enter settings

Enter OS upgrade

you will see this page

My MIDI settings in the file transfer program
...
This is the SysEx transfer page
..

You will see this if  file transfer and OS update was successful

video feedback - elk elektroniks

I was at Elk Electroniks on Sat and saw an amazing display of Video Feedback using some old
analog monitors / cameras.
Thanks to Troy for bringing these in.

The first few videos used a B/W monitor

Placing and object (such as my hand) between the camera and the monitor
added even better effects.

This effect has been around for decades. In fact it was first demonstrated in the 1950s and was
considered a nuisance until discovered by psychedelic visual artists and of course Sci-fi nuts
As a child I watched Dr Who and was mesmerized by the opening sequences.

Those early childhood experiences are looping back on me.

Video feedback is all about loops that occur when a video camera is pointed at its own
playback video monitor.
There is a delay from camera to display and back.
The camera sees an image, processes it and feeds it back to the monitor, which by
that time has moved on at least 1 image ahead (or may be more).

I think, the greater the delay, the greater the feedback distortion.

and placing objects between deserves more experiments

One final Black/white
and then onto the colour

Many artists have used optical feedback.
An example is Queen's music video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" (1975).

Below the monitor is a video processor (colour corrector) Sony XV-C900
It was used to adjust things like saturation, brightness, and contrast,
