My favourites are :
+Hyperion by Dan Simmons (one of the Greatest SF novels in my humble opinion)... read the series.
+The Vor Game, Mirror Dance, Barrayar, Falling Free (1989) by Lois McMaster Bujold ..... 16 book Vorkosigan Saga series..... I think it's worth reading the entire series in chronological order.
The series hasn't finished.
+Green Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson.... read the RED,BLUE,GREEN mars trilogy !!!
